Karen Boone, M.D.
A third-generation physician, Dr. Boone began her otolaryngology practice in St. Charles County in the 1990s. Her father, Dr. James Vighi, also an otolaryngologist, practiced in the county for 25 years.
A board certified otolaryngologist, Dr. Boone is a St. Louis native who attended Chesterfield’s Parkway Central High School before achieving a degree in biomedical engineering at Northwestern University. She received her medical degree from Case Western Reserve School of Medicine where she was a member of Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Society and recipient of the Janet M. Glasgow Memorial Achievement Award.
After medical school, Dr. Boone completed her surgical internship and her otolaryngology residency at St. Louis University. During her residency, she received several achievement awards including Cardinal Glennon department of pediatric surgery intern award given to the surgical intern who exemplifies outstanding surgical skill and patient care. She was also awarded the Department of Otolaryngology Resident Research Award given to the best resident research project. During her residency, she published several articles ranging from newborn hearing screening to intraoperative nerve monitoring.
A fellow of the American Academy of Otolaryngology, Dr. Boone is also a member of the American Academy of Otolaryngologic Allergy, St. Charles-Lincoln County Medical Society, the Missouri State Medical Association and the American Medical Association.
Dr. Boone has been an integral part in the development of the electronic medical records implementation in both her private practice as well as the local hospitals. She has been selected to serve on both local as well as national committees to continue the development of electronic medical records.
Seeking a permanent, less-invasive alternative, Dr. Boone co-founded this balloon sinuplasty center to provide first class care with a personalized touch. She feels that improving her patient’s overall health and quality of life both a pleasure and a priveledge.
Married to Dennis Boone and mother of triplets, and twin step-children , Dr. Boone likes to say that she now enjoys the privilege of full-time motherhood with the challenge of a full-time medical practice. When her schedule permits, Dr. Boone enjoys yoga, scuba diving and travel.
J. Matthew Conoyer, M.D., F.A.C.S., F.A.A.O.A.
Dr. Conoyer is a second-generation otolaryngologist—head & neck surgeon, born and raised in the St. Louis area. He completed his pre-medical studies at St. Louis University, where he majored in biology while minoring in philosophy and theology. In college, Dr. Conoyer was recognized with the university’s most elite students with early inductions into the prestigious Phi Beta Kappa and Alpha Sigma Nu honor societies. He graduated summa cum laude in 1999 as one of a handful selected nationwide for early admission to the Vanderbilt University School of Medicine in Nashville, Tennessee. He earned his Doctor of Medicine degree from Vanderbilt in 2003.
Dr. Conoyer continued his medical training in Nashville at Vanderbilt University Medical Center, where he served both his surgical internship from 2003-2004 and residency in otolaryngology—head & neck surgery from 2004-2008. During residency, he authored multiple textbook chapters and original scientific articles, and his original findings linking smoking to hearing loss garnered national media attention from WebMD and network news outlets. He received the American Academy of Otolaryngology’s Resident Leadership Award in 2008.
Dr. Conoyer returned home to the St. Louis area to join Midwest ENT in 2008. He is board-certified by the American Academy of Otolaryngology—Head & Neck Surgery and has been elected a Fellow of both the American College of Surgeons and the American Association of Otolaryngic Allergy.
Dr. Conoyer lives in St. Charles with his wife Ellen and their four children. In his free time, he enjoys hunting, shooting and charitable work.
Nurturing a special interest in minimally-invasive surgical procedures, Dr. Conoyer was the first in the St. Louis Metro area to offer Balloon Sinuplasty™ in the office setting under local anesthesia. To date he has performed hundreds of in-office sinus dilation procedures and continues to mentor other ENT physicians aspiring to offer these procedures to their own patients, with special emphasis on maximizing comfort and obtaining best results. To this end, Dr. Conoyer co-founded Metro Sinus Center in 2013 with the goal of coupling extensive surgeon expertise with an excellent overall patient experience tailored specifically for the many patients who benefit from Balloon Sinuplasty.
